Keeping Travellers and Commuters Informed

Image
The VMS (variable message signs) are largely used in airports, train stations, bus terminals, ferry crossings and may other applications where travel information is required.

PolyComp offers a turnkey project. It offers the VMS network link to serial communication or TCP/IP network which connects to a central data processing center (computer), sending online new updates of travel information.

The displays range from smaller characters, single line to large characters, and multiple lines for indoor and outdoor use.

Enclosure:
One of the most important aspects of VMS is a secure enclosure, which are reliable and easy to maintain.
PolyComp has achieved this by providing a high standard, well designed enclosure with IP55/IP65 ratings.
These cases provide easy front access using special locking mechanisms.
Pressurised air cylinders support the front doors when opened and so it is the tray on which the PC boards are mounted.
All these measures were taken to enable quick and easy access to any component inside the enclosure.
In most cases enclosures are made of 3 CR12 or aluminium materials.
Other steps to ensure a long life without corrosion or metal deterioration were taken.

Electronics:
Due to the reliability issue, PolyComp's VMS are designed for high reliability, long life and very long MTB. The quality of LED's are carefully selected for colour, wavelength, viewing angle and brightness - all according to the official requirement of the client.

Different designs are available such as:
24 Characters per line, 80mm high characters, 2 lines, double sided.
Or another example
40 Characters per line, 60mm high characters 8 lines, etc.

Special features were implemented. One such feature is:
"Heartbeat" - This ensures that if the communication between the online data coming in is cut off, the display clears the "old" message on the display and awaits new information when data is resumed.
Other features such as 2-way communication/verification, to ensure credibility of data line. As well as flexibility to create characters such as Hindi, Arabic, etc. Using Bitmap formats. Image
